Birmingham New Street Station / Birmingham

The £860m re-development of Birmingham New Street Station is one of the largest construction projects in Europe.

Project Scope

Being local to the project we were able to immobilise within 24 hours allowing the site team to continue their programme of works on time. Using the PS1000X-scan, a grid 600mm x 600mm was placed on the floor, reference points were marked on the concrete with the aid of the grid, the area then scanned. The scan is then transferred on to the PSA100 monitor at the location of the scan where we were able to analyse the data immediately and mark up rebar within the roof slab.

Objective

The team was tasked to locate steel reinforcement on the roof of the existing station.

Solution

All locations identified by the client were scanned, marked up and completed in 1 day.
